ABSTRACT

The goal of this paper is to emphasize the importance of project management in industrial projects, this meaning the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities in order to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations from a project. Meeting or exceeding stakeholder needs and expectations involves balancing competing demands among:

  • Objective, scope, time, cost and quality;
  • Stakeholders with differing needs and expectations;
  • Identified requirements (needs) and unidentified requirements (expectations).

 In this manner, we can say that project management is a dynamic process, conducted within a defined set of constraints that organizes and utilizes appropriate resources in a controlled and structured manner in order to achieve some clearly defined objectives.
