ABSTRACT:

The paper propose the geometry optimization at the head of the piston rod at D.I. Diesel engines. The authors had analyzed the appearance frequency of the destruction level at the engine block, crankshaft, piston rod and cylinder, produced by the fixing screw breaking of the head of the piston rod to the crank pin of crankshaft, at heavy duty Diesel engines, equipping the trucks over 10 tones load capacity. According to the study, this phenomenon is obvious at the most major overhauled engines. However to diminish the damages, criterions to optimize the geometry of the head of the piston rod are proposed. Using the Finite Element Method, the authors presents the geometry of the head of a piston rod which is able to take over the functional, the stability, the rigidity demands, but also the new criterions introduced by the authors, the destruction being reduced at the piston rod level.
