ABSTRACT:

In order to reduce the serviceable and manufacture costs, some studies about the reduction of the recoil assembly weight for the crawler equipment were made.

Going from the recoil assembly current solution, some projects were drafted, the target being the 20% decrease of the cost/recoil assembly by self weight reduce and manufacture technology improvement.

The ability to assess fatigue related problems and to perform durability analysis to estimate product life early in the design phase offers great benefits to a company in reducing development and testing costs, shortening time-to-market, and improving product life.

This paper presents the fatigue life estimate for a new recoil assembly solution, which are included in the made iterations to accomplish the proposed target.
