Abstract

ABSTRACT:

We propose a research on the 392-L4-DT, D.I. diesel engine made by ROMAN S.A. Brasov, for 6,5 t trucks, on diesel fuel and rape-seed oil mixture. The research in the field of alternative bio-fuels shows that the utilization of rape-seed oil can be used in diesel engines with classical injection equipment. The decrease of NOx concentration in exhaust gases could be obtained using homogenous charge. In this paper we will present the results of the tests using homogenous mixture up to 30% of the charge.

In conclusion, the objective of this paper is to investigate the combustion performances of vegetable oils as liquid biofuels for diesel engines and to find the optimal blend by the point of view of ecological and energetically performances.
