ABSTRACT:

In the thermal, mechanical and functional university labs, the authors made simulations and physical experiments of the diesel combustion chambers partially insulated with ceramics; the combustion chamber were also provided with controlled fuel sprays, in order to control the swirl and tumble movements.

The paper presents comparative analysis of the temperature distributions for the standard piston, the piston with ceramic ring, the piston with ceramic ring provided with holes for tangential dissipation of the fuel and the piston with ceramic ring provided with alveolus, with certain effect over the above mentioned movements.

The studies were made in lab conditions and the first results emphasizes the idea that partial insulation with ceramics provides the possibility of technological optimization correlated with hot gases flow, in the conditions of the new architecture of the combustion chamber in the piston head, providing the imposed reliability.

The paper represents an important progress towards the running of the diesel engine in optimized self-ignition and combustion conditions, offering low noise and chemical pollution.

The researches made by the authors offer to diesel engine designers and manufacturers new data concerning the constructive and functional optimization of the diesel engine partially insulated with ceramic materials.
