ABSTRACT:
In a CVT the ratios are created by means of a variator with axial repositioning of a conically shaped pair of discs between which a chain or belt transfers the torque. The trend toward grater performances and the development of high-torque diesel engine have sharpened the design focus in overcoming the CVT's torque limitations. This has led to the development of stronger belts and chains capable of up to 400 Nm torque.
The design performances of this type of powertrain have been evaluated using AMESim (Advanced Modeling Environment for performing Simulation of engineering system) software.
