ABSTRACT:

Despite its more than 100 year history, the automobile with its internal combustion engine is still the source of the mobility worldwide. This will surely continue to be the case for the next 10 - 15 years. In each market around the world the automobile industry is a mainspring of national economies and it substantially contributes to industrial development.

Not only the engines and the transmissions, but the entire automobile continues to evolve in recent years. Supported by environmental law, emissions and fuel consumption have been drastically reduced. The constantly growing demand for comfort and convienince has been fulfilled time and again while at the same time

increasing active and passive safety # at the same time driving fun has improved as

well.

The automobile industry is closely connected to its suppliers. Only with this close co-operation could the rapid technological development of the last 10 years have been possible. In this period many suppliers expanded their expertise in supplying components to include modules and become more active development partners.

Nearly all OEMs rely on their suppliers to reduce manufacturing production lines and focus on their core processes e.g. design, electronics, engines and transmissions.

INA, a member of the Schaeffler group, has ranked among the most important development partners in the industry. Since its founding in 1946, INA has developed from a bearing supplier to a complete system development partner and module supplier. INA components and modules are found within almost every vehicle system as: fuel delivery, valve train, accesory belt systems as well as engine accessories, transmissions, steering systems, chassis, vehicle interior - in passenger cars and commercial motor vehicles.

INA uses innovative products to fulfill the demand for reduced development time, reduced development cost, improved function and improved reliablity of components or systems. In addition, INA develops and invests in the newest manufacturing technology supported by modern information technology. Product development takes

place with the use of CAE tools which are frequently developed in-house. Validation of

products with regard to function, life and reliability takes place in the most modern of

testing facilities.

Using specific examples, allow us to show you the development and testing of a range of bearing and the engine components:

• Reducing the design phase through the application of predictive CAE Tools

• Dynamic body simulation

• The most modern test equipments to duplicate applications in the vehicle and the life.
