Abstract
In July 2011, new county transportation programs for regional public transport are to be subject of tendering, and these programs will be operational in the period 2011 – 2014. A study has been performed for this purpose, based on the evaluation of transportation demand. The result was a new design for the public transport system in Olt county, characterized by the adaptation of the program to the current transportation demand. In the paperwork is described the current situation of public transport in the county, there are presented the quantitative indicators of this and there is undertaken a critical analysis of the system. Then, using a transport model developed with Visum software, it is estimated the transport demand in the south-east of the county. Ascertaining the fact that in the adjacent zones of Slatina municipality, particularly in the examined area, the ratio volume / capacity exceeds the value 1, it is proposed to increase the capacity of transport means, and, performing a further simulation, it is confirmed that proposed new system has superior performances against the existing one.
