Abstract

ABSTRACT

The paper shows methods for static and dynamic stress measurements carried out on bus frame structures, for statistical evaluation of the measured signals and for service life estimation. A case study will show that these methods can be used not only for designing a new vehicle but for elaborating a frame renewal technology as well. Service life is influenced strongly by road quality, which is evaluated in the present practice only in a subjective way. This can lead to problems between manufacturer and operator. The correct solution would be measurement and numerical qualification of the road profile. This can be performed using the road profile measurement and evaluation procedure applied by AUTÓKUT. Based on this procedure, a standardized method could be elaborated. The paper describes also this procedure and introduces some road profile spectra.
