ABSTRACT:

Due to operational experiences typical malfunctions of buses mainly caused by cracks at different stress concentration points. The fatigue is caused by stress made by the dynamic loads alternating in time and space. To carry out a right working stress design is essential to know the detailed stress distribution on the vehicle body frame. The determination of the stress concentrating cross sections - causing stress peaks and fatigue on the chassis - are possible with widely used numerical methods. At the analysis of the transient loads the task is extremely complex and the solution is time consuming. Due to this reasons the process of the calculation should be carefully considered with the application of possible simplifications. This study gives a view about dynamic simulation at buses, introduces a method for calculating stresses and presents a suggestion about the details for the models used for the dynamical and finite element model simulations.
