Abstract
Abstract:
This paper gives a general overview on models and theoretical and practical considerations for off-road truck systems. The mechanical properties and the natural surfaces in off-road situations for movement of automobiles are highly diverse and unstable. The nature of their deformation is complicated and the interaction between the tyres and the ground is much more complex than those for hard roads. These differences and their influence on technical concepts of off-road trucks are outlined in this paper. The term “Off-Road Truck” is defined in the introduction. Subsequently, the elements frame, drive line and suspension of off-road trucks are explained. A summary and prospects for future developments close this paper.
