As a result of the calculations, it has been verified that the spring force produced by the valve spring has a significant importance - beside the selection of the control cam's geometric parameters and the reduction of mass - as far as the reduction of losses is concerned. The order of magnitude of the obtainable resuls raises the issue of considering the feasability of using springs the prestressing of which can be modified according to the r.p.m.
