Abstract

The development of the automatic gearbox management has to be validated on a testbed that includes an internal combustion engine, all the electronic components, all ECU, TCU, ABS, ESP systems, and also the diagnosis connection OBD I/ II. The designed test bed offers all the necessary connection in oder to be able to realize the testing, the tuning, the fine tuning, the optimization of the automatic gearbox TCU on real time with the real functioning condition. The necessity of a test-bed that can simulate the actual road loads on an automatic transmission is more than necessary to simulate the automatic gearboxes before being mounted on the vehicle. The test-bed is fully developed in the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, and several gearboxes were tested in order to fulfil and enhance the transmission capabilities of the test-bed. The application creates a complex data bus that is transposed using a CANcardXL that becomes the transfer window for the ESItronic diagnosis equipment application KTS 650. KTS 650 with the help of CANcardXL and using the available serial port and the USB port can make the necessary data transfers. A very good documentation of the experiment can be made due to the wide range of parameters that are monitored and the different types of loads that can be applied.
