Abstract

In order to obtain good, reliable and with a reasonable price consumer goods and products are designed and evaluated in terms of manufacturing process and structural performances using computer aided tools and methods. In this paper a method to use manufacturing process results for a molded part for structural analysis is presented. The molding process is analyzed using Moldflow while the structural performances are evaluated using Ls-Dyna. A number of user defined Matlab codes, the first one developed based on procedures of translating the numerical model developed for the structural analysis to the numerical model for molding analysis and the second one for importing Moldflow results for Ls-Dyna analysis are used and presented throughout this paper.
