Abstract

In the study of the characteristics of vibration and noise sources produced by automotive it’s required to develop a model able to simulate engine operation combining mechanical and thermodynamic characteristics of it. So, it was decided to use a simulation program by which to define the mechanical elements of the engine (with all their essential characteristics: the position of centre of gravity, moments of inertia) and links between them (joints kinematics characteristics, the stiffness and depreciation of links). Primary forces acting on the mechanical elements are determined by the elements of the thermodynamic system defined by pressure and temperature size and by their variation in time sequence. Thermodynamic and mechanical processes are correlated in the model so as to reflect the real system characteristics.
