Abstract
Due to the restrictive legislation regarding exhaust emissions levels of internal combustion engines, improving their efficiency must be done by experimental researches. This paper describes the importance of the engine’s fuelling system, which plays a major role for the air-fuel mixture formation process. Comparisons regarding the combustion behaviour and the resulting exhaust emissions are made between: the engines conventional fuelling system and the advanced air-fuel mixture formation system. Improving the engines efficiency was accomplished by increasing the compression ratio. The experimental research results, after increasing the engines efficiency, are also described.
