Abstract

The study proposes a way to determine the velocity of two vehicles in collision starting from the restitution coefficient vector relation, using the energy variation that characterizes the vehicles during the impact. The initial impact velocities determination, based on kinematic quantities that exactly characterizes the impact’s dynamics and the energy exchange that takes place during the collision will lead to results with a high degree of precision that provide an increase in the accuracy of the road’s technical expertise. It will also be presented the initial angle of impact between the two vehicles and the scaling relations of the restitution coefficient of based on vector computing elements. The general situation that it take into consideration is the collision between two vehicles, namely the collision between two vehicles at an initially unknown angle and it customize the general relations for certain specific situations in this case, the collinear collision before and after the impact and the collinear collision before the impact and oblique after impact. Finally, it will exemplify the values and data obtained using the proposed relations on a concrete case of collision.
