Abstract

Conflict management in a technical project from the automotive industry, is based on the following saying: “Conflicts within the project are normal and pervasive, and can be used in a positive and productive way”. The normal nature conflict is due to the fact that the project team members have individual personalities, with different ideas, needs and interests. These differences lead to distinct behaviours, which may generate tensions in the crew. The pervasive nature of conflicts arises from their possible emergence anywhere, at any time and between any members of the project. Conflicts come with a number of advantages and that is why through an adequate management, the project can be optimized. Depending on the situation, the conflict can be avoided, suppressed, accelerated or resolved. Therefore, conflict management is a mandatory topic in the knowledge base, skills and abilities of any project leader.
