ABSTRACT

The paper aims to describe the operation of a traffic monitoring system, based on the communication with the emergency line 112. Various methods of traffic monitoring are presented in the first part, with both their benefits and inconveniences. Then the paper emphasizes the importance of prompt incident detection and early event analysis, by gathering details from the monitoring equipment mounted on the car, from the detection devices located on the road or from the car driver. Subsequently the traffic monitoring system manages the incident analysis, by interpreting signals from the equipment mounted on the car and processing data from the detection devices, sends the information to the emergency service (from the car equipment, the road devices and the car driver) and provides the appropriate decisions and their execution.
