Abstract
The accelerating development of ITS and mobile multimedia services can be attributed to two main factors: the emergence of international standards and infrastructures, and advances in semiconductors technology that are, for the first time, allowing imaginative ideas to be turned into reality. The key advantage is true system-onchip technology, combined with strategic alliances.
We should not forget that another key contribution to telematics and multimedia services is coming from today demands of continuos connectivity.
In vehicles links with PDA, SmartPhone with specific human machine interfaces (i.e. voice recognition, text to speech ) are getting crucial in networked car architecture.
