In the automotive world it‘s usual only to specify a lifetime for power electronic devices but it‘s also necessary to define a drive cycle profile
A possibility is needed to make a statement about the recommended lifetime:
• Option 1: Lifetime tests => time-consuming, expensive, large number of test objects necessary
• Option 2: Calculation with specified models, based on reduced short lifetime tests
For both possibilities it‘s necessary to know the lifetime limited mechanisms of the used components
