Studying Dynamics of Hydraulic - Pneumatic Drive of Vehicle Brake System

Abstract

The advantages of hydraulic brake system are high sensitivity and neat arrangement, while its disadvantages are low brake force and difficulty in driving trailer brake. The advantages of pneumatic brake system are high brake force and trailer brake drive with ease, while the disadvantages are long response time and bulky arrangement. As a result, the hydraulic - pneumatic brake system is used in heavy duty vehicles. Its characteristic is the combination between a hydraulic drive and a pneumatic drive. Therefore, studying the dynamics of hydraulic - pneumatic drive of vehicle the brake system is complicated and requires a huge calculation. Using “Simulation with concentrated parameters” method with Simulink to study process that happens in hydraulic - pneumatic drive of vehicle brake system is not only to reduce amount of calculation but also obtain acceptable results. The paper shows a method to determine the period of gas load process and brake - delay time. The study also examines several parameters affecting dynamics of the system. The object used in this research is the hydraulic - pneumatic drive of brake system in MAZ - 537 vehicles.
