Abstract

Cycloid reducer mainly used for driving raceway like fork lift is known to be adequate for a reducer of transmitting low speed high torque. However, in case of this cycloid reducing gear, friction coefficient and efficiency are hard to be evaluated as it is difficult to forecast contact pressure between cycloid gear and pin exactly. In this study, as a result of analysis of efficiency by analyzing contact stress between cycloid gear and pin by utilizing LS-DYNA and calculating friction loss of friction in order to analyze an efficiency of this reducer, the following results have been obtained. As a result of calculating power loss caused by friction heat when each power of 110Kw, 63Kw and 26Kw depending on accelerating speed is transmitted in the process of accelerating a vehicle equipped with 220Kw class cycloid reducer and carrying a load of 180ton for 10 seconds, power loss of 34Kw, 19Kw and 8Kw was observed to be taken place and its efficiency was indicated as 69%, 70% and 70%, respectively. Consequently it was confirmed that the efficiency of the reducer creating contact is relatively low. Therefore it was recommendable that the cycloid speed reducer is quite adaptable to low speed vehicles less than 10km/hr with accompanying high torque.
