Abstract

A dynamic simulator for the evaluation of a woody biomass cogeneration system was tested. Using the simulator, named DYSEBIC, plants can be designed. The component units consist of a gasification furnace, a gas engine, a generator, an absorption refrigerator, a heat exchanger, and a controller, and these component units constitute the simulator. Where, an online estimation of gas composition is necessary to manage thermal efficiency at the controller. In this paper, gas compositions depending on operating conditions were estimated and pseudo-biomass gases that have compositions obtained with the simulation were made. A four-cylinder LPG engine that was mounted with an in-cylinder pressure sensor and a crank angle sensor was employed. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that data mining of in-cylinder pressure signals could provide calorific values for pseudo-biomass gas. Moreover, it was suggested that the management of heat conversion efficiency could use a result of engine combustion. †Dynamic Simulator for Evaluation of Biomass Cogeneration
