Abstract

Nowadays, finite element method (FEM) is usually used in the structure analysis aspect. The software based on finite element method can determine specific behaviors of the structure corresponding to static and dynamic loads in which there is collision load. Substructure techniques allow reducing considerably time and work volume and increase degree of accuracy of finite element model. In these studies we use module LS-DYNA of ANSYS software to calculate the stress and deformation of 8 seats Saigon Van body in case of frontal impact speed of 20kph into rigid barrier. The Saigon Van manufactured by Saigon Automobile Company, with small size and mobility that is very suitable for the public transport in Vietnam cities and towns. In fact, the body and framework make up a large rate of the vehicle value, but there still not yet any procedure for calculating sufficiently body and framework design, particularly calculations and tests in order to ensure passive safety in case of collision. Confronted with the situation that traffic accidents are tending to increase, to reduce the damages of human and vehicle when the accident occurs, therefore, the calculation of body strength, durability and passive safety as well as body-framework structure play a very important role. But the results calculated by module LS-DYNA have to be compared with that measured. With these calculations and testing results, we can determine the response of body in case of different speeds and colliding offsets, as well propose solutions to improve body structure. The test car impacts the solid concrete block were conducted in Automobile Company Mekong – Donganh – Hanoi.
