Abstract

Diesel engines are characterized by economic efficiency, in line with the several regulations coming into force to control exhaust and noise emissions, and the demand for lower fuel consumption, increasingly stringent demands are being applied for diesel engine’s injection systems. For the diesel injection system, the mechanical governor has been gradually replaced by the Electronic Diesel Control (EDC). Nowadays this EDC system is used very popular in the world. In Vietnam, there are many types of engines that use EDC such as container trucks, engineering machines and mining machines…The article introduces a method to develop a new Electronic Control Unit (ECU) which can be used to replace the mechanical fuel supplying control system. As results, an ECU for D4BB Huyndai engine was designed and manufactured. In this design a new way to measure the needlemotion of injector was found and applied. The manufactured ECU has low price thanks to available spare parts in Vietnam. The procedure for series manufacturing such ECU is easy to handle. The testing results on engines show that, by varying injection time and injection durations, a higher torque, lower fuel consumption than original fuel system can be achieved. The ECU operates stable under every working conditions and every operating regimes of the engine.
