Abstract

While truck is in the stationary state with low engine speed or running on a long road, cabin is under the impacts of vibrations which have undesirable frequencies. Those vibrations cause unpleasant feelings to the driver, affect on the quality of products on board and reduce the life expectancy of the vehicle.

The paper presents the results of theoretical research and experiment in order to determine the effects of powertrain vibration on cabin. The study has analyzed the vibration path from the powertrain to the cabin, built a dynamics model to study the effect of powertrain vibration on the chassis frame and built a dynamics model to study the effect of the chassis frame vibration on the cabin, to establish all the mathematical equations to describe and be solved to determine the parameters of the dynamics model. The experiment was carried out to measure vibration level of the powertrain and cabin of truck LF3070G1 in case of stationary state on the rulo. The result of the experiment was the vibration level at the supports of the powertrain, cabin and cabin floor. The experiment result was illustrated in the form of table, vibration level in time and frequency domain. The next step is to analyze the result and assess the effects of the powertrain vibration on the cabin.

The data is used for designing rubber absorbers between powertrain and chassis frame in order to minimize the effect of powertrain vibration on the chassis frame.
