Abstract

Abstract: The variation of seeding depth did not play a role in precision agriculture yet. Corn is usually planted in a depth of four to six centimetres no matter if the soil properties are changing in the field or if topographic variations appear. But to ensure a fast and complete germination and emergence the seeding depth needs to be varied in the field. Field trials show that the emergence rate can be raised if the seeding depth follows the soil water content.
