Abstract
Abstract: This paper presents an original method for evaluating the amount of chemical pollutants exhaust in the environment by the vehicles providing public transport. There were taken into consideration the technical characteristics of vehicles, the load of buses, the real characteristics of the public transport traffic in Pitesti city during rush hours in the bus stations very affected by the pollution and the maximum pollutants concentrations imposed by the regulations. The proposed method it is applied and permits to evaluate easy and rapid the pollution level, and also to select an optimal variant of buses from the environment impact point of view.
