Abstract
Abstract: Renewable energy supplies are of steadily increasing importance in all countries including Romania. Most governments have substantial plans directed towards commercial development and World agencies, such as the United Nation and European Commission, have large programs to encourage the technology, research and development in the field. The main Renewable Energy Sources (RES) which are interesting for agriculture and food industry applications are: solar, wind, biomass, hydro and geothermal energy. Theoretical and technical potential for these resources are discussed based on their evaluation. An overview on these RES applications and the perspectives on development is presented.
