Abstract
Abstract: Our modern society is marked by the dependence on oil to fuel its transportation needs. On the other hand, fossil fuels are considered one of the most important sources of air pollution. The necessity of developing a fuel that will produce a minimum level of harmful emissions and maximize fuel efficiency and economy has become the main goal of the researchers. Therefore, it is considered that new transportation technologies, such as alternative fuels, can reduce pollution and dependence on oil. In the alternative fuels category are included: ethanol, methanol, natural gas, propane, hydrogen, biodiesel, electricity. These fuels are used worldwide in a variety of vehicle applications. Vehicles running on cleaner fuels will produce fewer emissions, improving the air quality and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.
