Abstract

Abstract: The most significant renewable energy source in Serbia is solid biomass. The improvement and enlargement of RES implementation, supported by public funds, can simultaneously contribute to rural development. Based on the results of previous project and studies the biomass potentials, status of utilisation and barriers has been reviewed. It is recorded that the level of used biomass facilities is very low. The groups of future users of biomass as energy sources are defined as well as the list of their expectations. There are given three lists of needed multidisciplinary national regional and EU projects aimed in enlargement and improvements of biomass utilization as energy source and underlined its influence on development of rural areas.
