Considerations about the Potential use of the Geotermal Energy for Domestic Heating in Romania

Abstract

Abstract: The paper presents some relevant considerations about the potential of the geothermal energy, as important renewable energy, to be used in the field of domestic heating with heat pumps. Particular elements considering the environmental conditions of Romania are included. It was performed a study based on a computer simulation using an original software written in Engineering Equation Solver language, to evaluate the influence of some important parameters on the performance of the heat pumps. The most important studied parameters are: heat pump location, heat pump type (air-water, water-water, and ground-water), quality of the house insulation, type of application (radiant floor heating, ventilo-convector heating, and hot water preparation).
