Abstract

Abstract: In this paper a specialised application developed to vizualize the motion of the human body inside the passenger´s compartement is presented. The application is based on the study of the human body´s equations of motion solved using Lagrange or D´Alembert. The main coordinates from the 2D model of motion are used as support in order to describe the contour of the head, torso and pelvis. Also a procedure used to set up the dummy in its initial position is presented. The positioning procedure is based on the measurement of a real-life person in sitting position inside the vehicle using modern measuring equipments like a 3D measurig arm. A comparasion with a finite elements model is performed in order to check the accuracy of the vizualization.Using some analytical equations to study the position of each point in the model as well as the intersection between the geometrical elements it is important to determine the time of impact between the human body and the elements inside the vehicle. For that moment of time the kinematic parameters of motion are computed and translated to the point of impact.
