Abstract

Abstract: The hand´s bones are very often injured in almost any vehicle accident. In these conditions it is necessary to utilize a good osteosynthesis procedure. An elective method is the K-wire osteosynthesis, in spite of the relative instability of the bone fragments. Analyzing 121 cases treated in the last 18 months, it was observed that the performed K-wire osteosynthesis techniques could be organized in four categories. In almost all the cases it was obtained a good reduction with good and excellent functional recovery, only in 2% of cases was necessary a revision. These results underlined that the K-wire osteosynthesis is a method that remains an important option to obtain good quality results in the hand trauma occurred after vehicle accidents.
