Abstract
Abstract: The paper presents a theoretical study, based on numerical simulation, regarding the influence of mass leakages that appear in the case of real internal combustion engines, on the point when the maximum pressure in the cylinder is attained, in the absence on combustion, for a certain type of diesel engine. The thermodynamic loss angle is defined, being outlined that this can be a measure for the degree of perfection of the engine manufacturing. The results show that by knowing the thermodynamic loss angle the engine degree of wear can be evaluated and, moreover, the information gathered can be used to adapt the conditions of the engine adjustment.
