Abstract

Abstract: The optimization of the passenger´s compartment conditions consists in some means with subjective effect, having the purpose of achieving the comfort state needed to the driver but also to the passengers. Achieving the comfort state is conditioned by the way the ambient microclimate ensures the sensation of thermal comfort to the persons inside the automotive. It is well known that one of the requirements to be fulfilled is that a person be in thermal neutrality as predicted by the comfort equation. This is described and evaluated by the PMD - PPD indices, which take into account the six parameters: activity, clothing, air temperature, mean radiant temperature, air velocity and humidity. The present paper reports on some of the typical aspects and problems in the assessment of thermal climate in vehicles depending on different parameters.

Keywords: automotive, thermal comfort, equivalent temperature, PMD - PPD indices.
