Abstract

Keywords: Hybrid Electric Vehicles, energy management control

Abstract: This document provides a review of the latest supervisory control strategies and techniques for energy management in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) powertrains. The primary calculation required of the supervisory controller is the contribution to the powertrain torque demand provided by the engine and the electric drive(s). Cost functions are used as a high-level representation of the optimisation problem, and two common examples are selected for a more detailed discussion.
