Abstract
Abstract: Due to oil price increase, environmental concerns, and more and more demanding consumers, the automotive industry is currently mainly driven by needs for fuel savings and comfort enhancement while reducing pollution drastically, mainly for Diesel. Hybridization of the powertrain is one of the solutions which fulfill all these requirements. Meanwhile, European countries and Japan are introducing labels to encourage the spreading of clean and low consumption vehicles. Tax credit, tax deduction and free access to High Occupancy Vehicles lanes are some examples of legislative and regulatory activities promoting low emission vehicles and more specifically HEVs in some US states. Whereas costly hybrid applications are flourishing worldwide mainly thanks to strong hybrid applications at the leading edge of technology, Valeo believes the mass market requires realistic, cost effective and reliable technical solutions applicable at wide scale to large diffusion vehicles so as to efficiently contribute to CO2 emission reduction.
