Abstract

In this paper, the use of a superior grade of iron phosphate as positive electrode material is investigated for its use in large and low-cost Li-ion cells. 10Ah prototypes representing a high energy density version of the Li-ion system (140 Wh/kg targeted) have been elaborated. The design and preliminary performances of these batteries will be presented. Finally, we present in this paper the ARC tests which will be performed to estimate the safety of this technology and the next step of the project: the integration of Li-ion technology in small electric vehicle.
