Abstract
This paper deals with the benefits of using alternative fuels for reducing greenhouse gases emissions and shows how engine management systems have to be adapted for this purpose. Particular focus is put on two fuel sources that can be used in a very flexible way: CNG and Ethanol. In both cases the customer has the opportunity to run either on standard gasoline fuel or on alternative fuel. All along the presentation, the differences in terms of technical solutions, performances and emissions, will be analysed comparatively to standard gasoline operation.
