Abstract
Simple and accurate engine models are required for control strategy development applications. The Mean Value Engine Model is one of the models that have been developed for these purposes. This model predicts engine behavior with good accuracy. In this paper the model equations are illustrated and a method for calibrating the model parameters with minimum experimental tests is proposed. The accuracy of the developed model is investigated through experimental works carried out on the engine of a locally manufactured vehicle called Samand.
