Abstract

Heat flux on combustion chamber wall of a spark ignition engine is generally measured using thin-film type of heat flux sensor. The heat flux sensor consists of body material, wires to form thermocouples with the body and plating film. In this study, it is found that the plating film should be the same kind of metal to the wire of a heat flux sensor to improve the heat flux measurements. Furthermore, as concerns to measure the transient component of heat flux, it is not necessarily for the body material to use the same material of the combustion chamber wall.
