Abstract
New diffusion combustion that is induced by high-voltage spark is proposed. In this method, the electrical discharge is given to the liquid fuel in cavity of igniter. The purpose of study is to elucidate the influence of igniter configuration and the charged fuel volume on the diffusion flame, and the combustion is observed in the open atmosphere. The diffusion flame development process is divided into two parts: those are the periods affected by the fuel injection and the buoyancy. When the air is included in the cavity, the diffusion flame exists for a long period because the combustion is similar to the partially premixed combustion.
