Abstract
A new combustion model has been introduced for the turbulent propagating flame in an SI engine. The model is a hybrid model formulated by the concept that the flame front consists of the laminar mixing flamelet and turbulent dissipation flamelet. The fractal dimension is given by the Fractal Dimension Growth Model. The computed results were compared with measured pressures for several different equivalence ratios and engine speeds. It is shown that the hybrid model is the best among other models in predicting pressures for different conditions.
