Abstract
The purpose of this study is to clarify the combustion properties of dimethyl ether (DME) and to develop a new combustion techniques with high efficiency and low emission for internal combustion engine operated by DME/O2/Ar mixtures and DME/O2/CO2 mixtures. Combustion properties were elucidated in a spherical bomb by using schlieren images with a high-speed camera, for equivalence ratios ranging from 0.8 to 2.0 at an initial pressure of 1 atm and a temperature of 298 K. Unstretched laminar burning velocity and Markstein number were deduced and compared with the corresponding DME/Air mixtures.
