The FISITA Society Committee delivers an annual programme of Local Knowledge & Best Practice presentations to our Society & Affiliate Members. With Covid-19 disrupting plans to deliver in Prague during FISITA World Congress 2020, the programme was taken online.
The session was delivered in three sections; Local Knowledge, Best Practice and Technical Presentations, moderated by Christof Kerkhoff, FISITA VP Society and Jose Manuel Barrios, FISITA DVP Society.
Two Local Knowledge presentations were delivered - the first looked at the relationship between Corporate and Society Members and the benefits of encouraging such relationships through the FISITA network. The second presentation highlighted the collaborative work of industry and academia to support the next generation of engineers. This year the Best Practice section took the format of a panel discussion to further explore the challenges and potential solutions faced by Society & Affiliate Members following Covid-19. This session was moderated by Jose Manuel Barrios. The Technical Presentations were delivered by Affiliate Member International Society for Terrain-Vehicle Systems (ISTVS) and covered two topics;
All of these sessions were recorded and can be found in the FISITA Meetings section of the Members Area (for those with a Members Area login).
Jose Manuel Barrios kindly answered some key questions after the session.
What was your major take-away from the presentations and subsequent discussion?
It was great to see an example of how a Corporate Member can benefit by interacting with different Society Members utilising the FISITA network. Maybe, this is something that could be an inspiration for the others. Related to the panel, I think that this could be the first step for a working group or forum to share concerns and recovery plans around the world.
In which areas would you like to see FISITA maintain ongoing internal or public discussions?
In my opinion, the Society Member recovery plans, and concerns (during and post-COVID) could be one of the themes for continuous discussions. Also, the virtualisation of the events (conferences, training, congress…) could be also considered as a hot topic.
Discussions will continue in the next Society Forum Meeting on 21 January 2021. For further information contact Sarah Nagle S.email@example.com
