FISITA celebrates first Strategic Partnership with Women's Engineering Society

29 August 2017

FISITA, the international membership organisation for the automotive mobility engineering profession, has welcomed the Women's Engineering Society (WES) as its first Strategic Partner.

FISITA Strategic Partners are stakeholder organisations engaged in promoting excellence and diversity in the advancement of automotive, mobility systems engineering and associated technologies.

FISITA has also become a Company Partner of WES and to celebrate this new partnership, a new web area dedicated to women in engineering has been published on – this resource, which is set to grow, as additional stories and case studies are submitted to FISITA, is available at

Kelly Williams, Director of Member Services at FISITA, said: “It’s with great pleasure that we welcome WES as the first Strategic Partner to FISITA – this is one of two new levels of membership, allowing us to invite more organisations to become involved in this fast evolving mobility sector.

“FISITA works to promote excellence and diversity in the advancement of automotive mobility systems engineering and associated technologies - we’re committed in our support of ‘Women in Engineering’ campaigns and member activities, so it’s fantastic to establish this partnership with WES.”

Kirsten Bodley, Chief Executive of the Women’s Engineering Society, said: “WES is very pleased to have formed a strategic partnership with FISITA and be able to support this exciting mobility sector. We are committed to working with partners to encourage and challenge them as they champion diversity. We look forward to working together in finding more innovative ways of seeking more women and retaining them into a sector that is moving into the Smart cities arena and driverless cars. We hope they will all join us in celebrating progress across the sector as we approach the WES centenary in 2019.”

WES is the oldest women's engineering organisation in the world, having been set up after the First World War in 1919 to support and inspire women in engineering and technical professions. They join over 100 other leading organisations and societies from many of the most influential companies within the global automotive and mobility systems community as part of the FISITA’s membership structure.
