Mobility Concepts of the Future and a World Premiere Concept Vehicle at Fisita 2014

16 April 2014

The FISITA 2014 World Automotive Congress will bring international OEMS, suppliers, engineering services companies and the academic and research communities together to address the theme: Intelligent transport to solve our future mobility, safety and environmental challenges and to present their work on the most important issues and challenges being faced by the automotive industry.

An Executive Track will bring together the best cutting-edge content in each of the ten Congress topics and the session on New Mobility and Vehicle and Control Concepts will feature a keynote from Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lutz Eckstein, Director of the world-renowned Institut für Kraftfahrzeuge (ika) at RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eckstein said, "Future mobility will require other vehicle concepts than what is recognised today. We need to complement the current evolutionary development of electric vehicles with a revolutionary approach, starting from the user´s experience."

The automation of the driver's tasks and its increasing importance and integration is an important subtheme and this Executive Track session combines the Automated and Cooperative Driving and New Mobility and Vehicle Concepts topics to maximise content for attendees. The session is scheduled to take place 10:30-12:30, Thursday, 5 June 2014.

Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lutz Eckstein will open this session with a keynote "Evolution or Revolution? The future of motor vehicles and their control concepts" and will be followed by the following presentations:

The growing degree of automation of the driver's tasks is an important subtheme for New Mobility and Vehicle Concepts and the DELIVER demo vehicle will be showcased as a world premiere on a dedicated `Island of Excellence' in the exhibition accompanying the FISITA Congress.

The FISITA 2014 technical programme will see international experts explore radically new vehicle architectures and innovative vehicle concepts with alternative drives, as well as future commercial vehicle architectures, novel aerodynamics concepts and field operational tests with electric vehicles, amongst other subtopics, over the three days of the Congress.
