FISITA is committed to supporting the next generation of mobility engineers
“I would like to whole-heartedly thank
FISITA for awarding me their generous scholarship via the Travel Bursary"
Update March 2020: The current Covid-19 global pandemic means that government advice for residents of many countries is to stay home and not to travel. We have therefore taken the decision to not award any Travel Bursary this year to students so that we do not encourage any unnecessary travel or face to face contact – we appreciate this will be disappointing news to many but we are doing everything we can to bring other opportunities and initiatives to students, engineers and academics via online platforms wherever possible.
Keep in touch with us via the FISITA International Engineering Community (FIEC) where you can network with the FISITA Team as well as peers from around the world
FISITA is one of the world's leading advocates for the education of future automotive engineers. In today's global automotive industry, the experience of working as an engineer in another country is extremely valuable.
Victoria Ryan is a recent Travel Bursary recipient, see what she has to say:
FISITA offers student engineers the opportunity to apply for a travel bursary, of up to EUR 2000, to help with the costs of taking part in organised work placements (internships, exchange programmes, work placements etc.) in automotive companies and research institutions overseas.
In order to be eligible to apply for the FISITA Travel Bursary you need to be part of the FISITA International Engineering Community — click here to sign up for FREE.
“Thanks to the FISITA Scholarship, I was able to have one of the most useful and engaging experiences of my college career”
These types of work experience can be life-changing and can lead to permanent jobs after graduation. They also allow students to make new friendships, develop professional contacts and gain invaluable experience in an ever-evolving and exciting industry.
Take a look on the IAESTE website if you need some ideas and inspiration about a placement.

The bursary at work
We have enabled Korean students to work for General Motors in Michigan, USA, we have helped Australian students fund placements at Robert Bosch GmbH in Germany; supported Polish students studying at RMIT in Melbourne, Australia, to name just a few examples.
“Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I want to take this opportunity to once again express my gratitude to FISITA for their support and encouragement. I hope that they will be kind enough to continue supporting engineering students across the globe in their efforts to gain a global perspective on engineering.”
David Silverstein
Placement at Federal-Mogul, France
“This internship has been a great experience. I have acquired a solid technical background in the Noise and Vibration domain, and perfected my language skills... I also really appreciated working with a different work culture, and to experience another way of life. It opened my eyes on a land full of work opportunities.”
Chloe Lerin
Placement at John Deere Product Engineering Centre, USA
“Due to my placement I have obtained priceless experience in mechanical engineering while being embedded in a team of sophisticated engineers, young engineers, and other international students. For that reason I was able to get into touch with automotive engineering students from the Netherlands, India, China, Spain, Sweden, and Germany.”
Marc Lueke
Placement at Volvo Car Corporation, Sweden
“I would like to whole-heartedly thank FISITA Travel Bursary for awarding me their generous scholarship. Living alone in a foreign country is a scary and difficult thing to do, and with the help of FISITA I was able to comfortably enjoy my time living in Barcelona and interning at SEAT.”
